Shrub

Post by Duane Dyer » Sat Jul 04, 2015 11:07 am

At the last National Gathering, Ty brought some really good rum shrub. Would it be possible that the recipe could be shown here?

Here you go!

One 59oz simply lemonade

Two cups of dark rum. I like Goslings or Sailor Jerry.

1 cup of raw sugar.

Nutmeg to taste. I usually do about 5 to 8 shakes.

Mix the lemonade and rum together. Then add sugar and whisk it until it's
dissolved. Then sake in the nutmeg. I like to do it a few days before
the event. Just remember to shake it up before serving.

Enjoy!

I made up some using Ty's recipe and took it to the Western Gathering where it was a big hit amongst all who tried it. Thanks again.

Tom - you'll have to come get it because it doesn't mail well.
William - I read the Gazette as all good members should be doing but it is easier to respond this way then a letter to the editor.

My point was the recipe was printed in the July/August edition of the Gazette.

Sorry, William, but with our move from Missouri to Idaho we never got the mailed written copy. Larry sent me one by email, but I had already asked on the Forum and I wanted to publicly tell Ty (and everyone else) how good it is.

Ty,
I made up some of your shrub recipe that was printed in the Gazette and took it to the fall woods walk this past weekend at Ft De Chartres. It was a big hit; even Tom Embree partook of the sweet nectar.
