what are they?

Post by dw25650 » Thu Jun 19, 2014 7:26 am

Out of our time period but perhaps of interest. Doing genealogy research and found the following in an 1842 estate list: "1 Rifle Gun & Shot pouch, butcher knife moler and arpus" I'm thinking the moler might be a mold but have no idea what "arpus" might be. Anyone have better ideas on either one?

Could be an abbreviation for "apparatus" (as in "other stuff" in the shot pouch)?

Is it a Jewish descent line? Could be tools used for ritual circumcision. in other words was he Mohel Rabbi or doctor?
