Help for a Long Rifle owner

Post by royjkatz » Mon Jun 06, 2011 6:36 am

I received the following email accompanied by 8 photos. It is an interesting looking gun but I don't have the knowledge to help this gentleman. If anybody thinks they can help him, contact me & I'll forward the email w/ the pictures. Roy

Hi, my name is Tom Miller. My wife can track her ancestry in this country to the pre revolutionary period and several of her ancestors fought in the revolutionary war. The most notable of these men was Dennis Trammel.
I was at a garage sale today and purchased the rifle shown in the attached photos. I’m not sure what it is, but I am hoping it is from the revolutionary period. I do not know much about these rifles, but I do know that the percussion design is not of the revolutionary period. I am hoping that perhaps this rifle was upgraded from a flintlock at some point.

Anyway, can you tell me what it is I have?

Thanks for your time
