From "Everyman His Own Doctor: or, "The Poor Planter's Physician" printed in 1736:
"In case a Film shou'd grow over the Sight of the Eye, occasioned by a Blow, a sharp Humour, or other Accident, you may take it off with this easy and cheap Remedy. Dry Humane Dung in the Sun that is Yellow and of a good Consistence, and having reduced it to a very fine Powder, blow it thro' a Quil Two or Three Times a Day into the Eye, and your Sight will be happily restored in a short time."
I can see how someone subjected to this "cure" could end up with a crappy outlook on things!
